Latency

Simply stated, video latency is the amount of time between the video captured and the video displayed. Different applications have different requirements for latency. Low latency is not critical for some applications, including set-top boxes, DVD players, and other media player devices, several seconds of latency is acceptable for those applications.

The latency is the amount of time between the video captured from the game console and the video displayed on the TV, latency is the most significant factor that affects the gaming experience. Resolution and Refresh Rate

Besides latency, Gaming also has strict requirements of video resolution and refresh rate, which requires the wireless HDMI for gaming devices to be able to display at least 1080p FHD resolution at 60 Hz frame rates or even higher resolution such as 4K at 60Hz.

Compared with the resolution, the refresh rate is even more important because a high refresh rate also means lower latency and more fluidity. If the video is at a 60Hz refresh rate, it refreshes 60 times per second, the latency of each frame is about 16.7ms. if the video is a 30Hz refresh rate, it refreshes 30 times per second, the latency for each frame is about 33.4ms. so for wireless HDMI devices that support a high refresh rate, which means low latency for each frame. 

While most wireless video HDMI transmitters in the market only support a maximum of 1080p resolution, with a 30Hz frame flash rate and around 100ms latency. Even for some so-called 4K wireless HDMI products, the actual frame is also 30Hz, which is not enough for the gaming application.

In summary, if you want to use wireless HDMI for gaming applications, it has to meet high latency, at least 1080p resolution and high refresh rate.
